AYoMW: May 21, 2020 — Don’t forget, we are one

Lesson 142: My mind holds only what I think with God
Review of Lessons 123: I thank my Father for His gifts to me, and
Lesson 124: Let me remember I am one with God.

The central theme for all of these reviews in the coming days is simple: “My mind holds only what I think with God.”

That’s hard to remember because we allow the ego to delude us – to lie to us – and convince us that it thinks our thoughts. And, oh, what thoughts it thinks! Thoughts of judgment, hatred, greed, fear, competition, superiority (even inferiority, when it serves its needs), anger, lust, covetousness. Our egos are a mishmash of constant thoughts that work to distract us from this present moment, because the ego knows that if we can fully be present, even for one moment, we will never trust its thoughts again.

That’s the essence of this lesson’s review of the phrase from lesson 124: “Let me remember that I am one with God.” That’s the whole reason we’re here – to remember that we are one with God. We have never left God’s presence. We are eternally one with God and with one another.

We allow the ego to distract us from this, to paint a picture of separation – a world of seeming differences and opposites. Until we learn to see through the ego’s façade, we will forever be in its clutches. But, the introduction to this review reminds us that our “self-deceptions cannot take the place of truth.”

The truth is this: we are one with God, all the time. The more we can learn how to pause, breathe deeply, and remember this, the more attuned to that oneness we will become. Once we encounter that oneness, our hearts are filled with Love and compassion for those around us – even those we consider “other” or “evil doers.” When we remember who we are – one with God, all the time – we begin to realize others are one with God, all the time too. They, like us, are simply caught up in self-deception.

Once we realize our oneness – and begin to make recognizing it a daily habit – then gratitude replaces our feeling of separation and despair and we can thank God for the gifts we have received. We are thankful for the ability to see and recognize the Truth, even if it is for fleeting moments in this ego world. In our gratitude, we give back by Loving the world around us and seeking its salvation by first accepting that Atonement – that correction of our thoughts – for ourselves.

Once we have accepted the correction of our own thoughts – we can begin to live from a place of Holy authenticity. Our mind holds only what we think with God. Our healing comes by removing all thoughts that contradict Love, all thoughts that produce fear. We will not do this perfectly in this bodily world but we are called to create a happy dream from which we can ultimately awaken – together – into the real of unity that we have never, ever left.
